Owen is the
Managing Principal of Acquilano Leslie Incorporated. He is an AIA
member and is an NCARB certified architect licensed in fourteen
states. He is also a LEED accredited professional(Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design) with LEED certification
experience. He has 27 years of experience in a variety of project
types including new development, property acquisitions, building
renovations, architecture and commercial interior design, and
general contracting. Owen has acted as owner's representative for
over 4 million square feet of proposed new development, and has been
responsible for the architectural design and construction of
millions of square feet totaling in excess of $400 million.
Owen
received a Bachelor of Architecture degree with High Honors from the
University of Tennessee in 1981 and was recipient of the Malcolm
Rice Achievement Award and the Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society award
in Architecture. Owen also received a Bachelor of Science degree
with honors in Business from the University of Tennessee in 1977.
Owen was awarded the Mentor Award by Commercial Real Estate Women
for mentoring women in real estate.
Owen spent
two years with the internationally renowned architectural firm
Skidmore Owings and Merrill, working on office building and hotel
projects including Denver's 55 story, 1.3 million square foot
Republic Plaza Building. He then spent seven years with Toronto
based real estate developer Bramalea Ltd. where he worked on new
development in Denver, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas, including the 72
story, 2.1 million square foot First Interstate Bank Building in
Dallas.
Owen
co-founded Acquilano Leslie Incorporated in 1990 with Donna
Acquilano and has guided the firm's work and it's growth to recently
include three corporate headquarters projects in excess of 250,000
square feet each, new office building development, and major
mountain resort work. Owen has held the position of real estate
developer, architect, tenant and contractor. This diverse
experience gives him a collective understanding of each party's
objectives and obligations and the requirements for each to operate
most effectively. His knowledge is often relied upon and valued in
the real estate transaction.
